Muay Thai is a form of martial arts that’s also known by a lot of people as Thai Boxing and is considered as the national sport of Thailand. This form of martial arts isn’t just common in Thailand; it has also been seen and trained by a lot of individuals throughout the world.
It’s recognized as a tough Martial Art, due to its lethal and effective moves. It’s not just a simple sport, but it’s measured as a method of entertaining for a lot of people as well. Travelers and foreigners in Thailand revel in watching Muay Thai; their visit wouldn’t be completed if they don’t watch any Muay Thai fight during their stay where children as young as 9 will perform in the ring.
Training in Thailand begins as soon as one is able to take direction and it is not uncommon to see children younger than that hanging around the mats watching classes until they are ready.
Arashi Do Martial Arts is bringing this traditional Thai Sport to the Children of Edmonton. We offer Experienced, Professional Instructors who not only have a wealth of Muay Thai knowledge to share but have been teaching children of ALL ages for many years. Khru Mike from the North school has been teaching children 4 and up since 1998.
Classes normally consist of a warm up designed to challenge their coordination and develop strength and flexibility as well as spacial awareness. Then the techniques of the day will be taught and practiced in various scenarios and with various equipment. Finally the class will end with a sport specific game or challenge to reinforce the skills taught.
To help keep children motivated in their training, a curriculum has been developed to challenge them and get them used to the idea os setting and accomplishing goals.
